Pienza and Montepulciano
Tuscany offers clients a variety of characteristic hilltowns and enogastronomic delights that vary from one area of the region to the other. Pienza and Montepulciano are located in the picturesque Val d'Orcia. “Vino Nobile di Montepulciano” is produced in this area and the tours includes sampling of this fine wine while strolling through the streets admiring the Renaissance palaces. Pienza, once a sleepy medieval hilltown was transformed into what was to be Pope Pius II’s idea of the ideal Renaissance city in the 15th century. The city’s memorable vistas off the main piazza are breath-taking as the Cathedral seems to slip off the hillside. The city today has been marked by the UNESCO registrar as one of the world’s great heritage monuments.
