Rome to Florence (Florence to Rome)
With en-route excursion to Siena and San Gimignano
San Gimignano still hails today as one of the most impressive medieval hilltowns of all of Italy. When the pilgrimage road to Rome was re-routed in the 15th century, bypassing this hilltown, time stopped. Take a stroll in this quaint walled city through the streets lined with tall and impressive medieval towers. Shops overflow with local goods including tasty meats and cheeses and hand-crafted ceramics.
Siena, the home to the summer festival, the Palio, the characteristic horse race in the main square, is yet another jewel of Tuscany. The medieval buildings, palazzi and churches with the city’s Duomo dominate the skyline. The city’s economic boom of the 14th century left traces of the Gothic style throughout the Siena’s art and architecture.
Clients will also enjoy the ride through admiring the Tuscan landscape typical of the province of Siena and break for lunch a typical Tuscan trattoria.
Admission fees to monuments or Churches not included.
